A Konnect Africa Interview with Nonso ‘Czar’ Nnamani : Rising Entrepreneur in Info-Marketing and Copywriting

It is another Konnect Africa Interview. How are you doing?

Today, we have in our midst a fast-rising Nigerian entrepreneur with expertise in info-marketing and copywriting, a Czar who is recording increasing levels of success in his craft. His name – Mr Nonso ‘Czar’ Nnamani.

In this loaded interview, he shares the story of how he got into the info-marketing and copywriting business, the progress he has recorded so far and provides some words of wisdom to aspiring info-marketers out there. Sit back and enjoy the read>>>

Tell us about Nonso Czar Nnamani – family, ethnicity, education

I’m the first son and the first child of two parents (obviously). I have five siblings. Three are boys, two are girls. And of course, Nonso – that’s an Igbo name (from South Eastern Nigeria). So I’m an Igbo boy. I attended an all boys secondary school in Enugu – College of Immaculate Conception. Then I moved on to University of Nigeria Nsukka where I studied Microbiology.

Why info-marketing and copywriting business? What is it about and how did you get into it?

I got into info-marketing, which is the sale of information, after I saw a facebook ad in my second year at the university. I Clicked through the Facebook ad and was taken to a squeeze page, then I put in my email and that was it. Happened that the guy behind the ad was Akin Alabi who currently owns Nairabet.com.

I went through his 7 day free email course pre-selling his seminar and was hooked. That was how I fell in love with the business.

Copywriting is key to great success in the info-marketing business. What exactly is Copywriting? Can anyone be a copywriter?

For me, Copywriting is the use of print to influence. So when you use written words to influence human decision, then you are a copywriter. And yes, anyone can be a copywriter. Anyone at all. As long as you can write a letter, you can handle it.

Which product has given you your biggest success?

I would say digital products in the dating niche. Well, that’s like the very first real result I have gotten in this business, so I tend to see it as a big success.

I have basically sold ebooks and an audio course in that niche. Then, I have also partnered in taking a digital course into the marketplace in the football betting prediction niche – a product that made six figures within the first 48 hours of its launch.

Is info-marketing business do or die for you? If it is not, what other vocation would you be caught red-handed in?

I love info-marketing. But no, it’s not a do or die for me. It’s a stepping stone to something bigger. But then, don’t get me wrong, this business is huge.

Our counterparts in the US make millions of dollars from this business. Some guys are already doing those same figures right here in Nigeria. But for me, Nah, I intend to move out at a point. But still in the area of Technology. I love the tech market place.

What informs your business and marketing decisions?

I do a lot of research. And I also flow with my gut feelings. If I feel a product is hot, it usually ends up being hot.

My marketing decisions, on the other hand, are influenced by my reaction to whatever marketing strategy I have been exposed to in the past. And most especially, the market.

The mistake most marketers make is applying the same marketing strategies to every market. I mean, you can’t sell to the age 48 and above via email marketing for instance. But most marketers attempt to do that. So, the market is very important in determining  marketing plans you would use

What do you enjoy most about being an Entrepreneur?

The adrenaline rush it gives, really. I love it. I love that feeling of; “mehn, my money dey this business. It would be fun to see how much go flow out at the end of the day”. In as much as I love giving value, I love making profits.

The possibility and magnitude of profits you can make from being an entrepreneur far outweighs the one you would make working for someone else.

What would you say is your biggest achievement since you started out?

Well, I can’t really say now. But I think if I have to say anything, it would be my dad’s approval after he said my business choice of info-marketing and copywriting wasn’t really sensible and I ended up showing him results.

I remember one day I had placed an ad and my phone was beeping with alerts and I looked at him and was like: “Dad, that last alert you heard makes it 450k I have made today. This is not MTN sending me texts. Those are credit alerts” and I showed him the last alert and the account balance, and the look on his face was priceless. That was a big achievement; getting my dad to believe in the possibility of internet of money

What is the most incredible thing that has happened to you since you ventured into the creation and marketing of info-marketing products?

Making 7 figures in a day. That had a massive effect on my mentality about money. Like, “wow. There is money flying around waiting to be picked” . Really incredible feeling that was, trust me.

What are some of the major challenges you have encountered in business thus far and how did you overcome them?

Loads and loads of them. But most importantly, one major challenge in this business is really knowing the ways to convert leads. And the way to overcome this has always been to study study study study. Keep learning. You can’t ever know it all in this business. The moment you start thinking you are a guru who can’t learn anymore, you are done. Your competitors would eat you up.

How do you deal with the family/business dilemma and which comes first?

Family comes first. Money without family is nothing. But then, to deal with it I just find a way to strike a balance between the two. Family time is family time and business time is business time

How has the internet helped your love affair with business?

Ooh woow, it’s given me hope. People have money, just give them a solution to their problem and they will pour their money on your laps.

What would be your bestseller guide to the “doubting” Thomases of business over paid-employment?

They should go and read “12 Month Millioniare” by Vince James. I don’t think it was a best-seller though, but they should just read it.

What advice would you give to the teeming unemployed youths across Nigeria and Africa?

Well, it’s simple. If your passion is to work for someone. It’s fine. But if you really want to take control of your life then stop waiting, get up, go out there, look for a problem, solve it, and have people pay you for that solution. You can even do it while you wait for a white collar job if that’s what you want to do. Don’t dull yourself, buddy.

What is your inspiration? What keeps you going?

My Mum. She believes in me so much. I don’t want to disappoint her. And also, the fear of poverty. It scares the hell out of me and the possibility of ending up poor jerks me into action all the time.

What is your take on mentoring? Any mentors?

You need mentors in whatever field you are in. No matter what. It’s either you meet them in person and learn from them or you read their books if they have written any and you can’t meet them in person. And yeah, I have two mentors. Don’t want to mention their names.

Where do you see you and your business in another 5 years?

In 5 years, I won’t have to introduce myself in the internet marketing niche and beyond. I think that projection would do for now.

For you, Life is….

A Journey. Life is a journey. Don’t stop. Keeping pushing till you get to whatever destination you are going to.

If your first son were to follow in your online entrepreneurial footsteps, what major DON’T would you share with him?

Simple. I would ask him not to just google how-tos but he should seek out guys who are already getting results in the area of info-marketing and copywriting, and learn from them. Buy their materials and stuff. But then, don’t get so lost in buying up these materials. You also have to take action and then learn as you go.

Hey buddy, business isn’t easy. Most of your businesses would fail. But don’t stop. All you need is just one that would catch on, it becomes easier after your first one million. Keep striving till you uncover that one. (Lol, hope that’s not more than 140 characters though)
