“Then Samuel took a Vial of Oil,and poured it upon his head ,and kissed him,and said,is it not because the LORD hath anointed thee to be Captain over his inheritance?”(1 Samuel 10vs 1). That is the Focal Scripture of Streams of Joy Devotional Today.
In Today’s Focal Scripture, Samuel took a vial of oil and poured it on Saul’s head to signify his anointing as King of Israel. One of the ingredients of the anointing oil is a spice called ‘MYRRH” (Exodus 30 vs 22-25). Myrrh is a purifier. So, Saul was anointed with an Oil that had a purifier in it. It seemed that as the Oil was being poured on Saul, God was cleansing Saul from every impurity as he was being prepared for Kingship.
Friend, glean a lesson from Saul’s life: If you must attain the heights that God has destined for you, then give him a chance to purify you. If you need to ultimately come to a place of honor before God,you need the ‘myrrh’ experience.
Beloved, isn’t it about time you allowed the Lord to rid you of all impurities. These impurities have consistently slowed down the workings of Divinity in your life. Oh yes! His Presence doesn’t thrive in unrighteousness. Let the unforgiveness, hate, malice, contention, pride, anger, lies, lust etc go. Before he makes you a spectacle of his glory, he really wants to take out everything that isn’t of him in your life.
Friend, as the day of reckoning approaches faster than we can imagine, allow God to separate the chaff from the wheat in your life. You may have struggled to break free from sin, just ask the Spirit of God burn off every stronghold of sin in your life.
If God can bless you with all your inconsistencies and unfaithfulness; imagine what He will do for you if you become more consistent and devoted to him!
Pray with me, “Lord, purify me”.
