“Therefore I tell you do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more important than food, and the body more important than clothes?” Matt. 6:25 [NIV]
Many people worry so much about what to eat, drink or put on – clothes to wear – their bodies. To the point that most of them engage in dubious activities in order to satisfy their desires. These desires are unlimited because once you acquire them, the hunger to gain more grows more. Immediately the recession set in last year or thereabout, I saw Christians playing games – doing some businesses – with an aim to quench their thirst.
But more than recession, man is filled with demands and more demands. He is never satisfied with the little gotten, always struggling to measure with the standard of others. But there is something more important to these things and that is life.
I recalled some weeks ago, I told a friend about my health condition and she immediately suggested I should halt all my activities and give myself proper care and attention. To her, life is more important than all those struggle to either remain relevant or to satisfy people’s eye or gain a lot within a limited time frame! I pleaded with her to understand my tight schedule but she concluded by saying, “it is for your own good.” Yes. She is never wrong, there is more to life than what we see and hear.
Life is more and more important than what we worry so much about. Some disregard their family, health and other life concerns for what may last for a little while. If I told you that life is in duplicate, please tell me to my face that I am a liar – because that is delusional.
I want to introduce you to the Giver of that life in whom you will cast all your anxiety on because He cares. His name is Jesus Christ. He came that we might have life, and have it more abundantly. Take no thought to worry about all these things and issues that surge up in life, because they last for a little while but in Him, you are secured. He is concerned about you. Receive His life into your spirit and your life will not remain the same.
