Tempted In The Temple

“Then the devil taketh him up into the holy city, and setteth him on a Pinnacle of the temple” (Matthew 4 vs 5). That is the Focal Scripture of Streams of Joy Devotional Today.

STREAMS OF JOY(_) Pastor Jerry Eze Tempted In The TempleWhen the devil was done tempting Jesus with bread, he proceeded to tempt Him at the temple. He began by tempting Jesus with something that had to do with daily sustenance, but when Jesus didn’t fall to that,he moved the temptation to the temple.

The temple was a place of worship. It was a place men came to communicate with God. It was a place where humanity had an interface with Divinity. So, the devil crafted another temptation in the place of worship. He tempted Jesus at the place of communication with God. When he failed in his attempt to tempt Jesus with something physical,he switched to something spiritual.

Friend, have you noticed that when the devil can’t succeed in tempting you with something physical, he makes the temptation more spiritual? When he can’t pull you down with mere physical needs, he fights you at the place of your worship and communion with God. When he can’t succeed in fighting you externally, he goes for something more internal.

Today, hear God’s counsel: Guard your spirit against the arrows of the enemy. Guard yourself against the attacks on your relationship with God. Fight against every onslaught that the enemy has launched against the matters of your spirit. Fight back when he seeks to destroy your prayers and commitment to God. Fight back when he fights your sexual purity. Fight back when he fights you with sin. Fight back when he fights your prayers with distracting thoughts.

Your Body is the temple of the Holyspirit. Resist every temptation in your temple! Resist every attempt of the devil to get you back into sin. Every fight against your temple is a fight to reduce you and totally disconnect you from God!

Pray with me, “Lord, help me to stand when the enemy fights against my temple in Jesus name”.

Have a Blessed Sunday!
