“And as they went up the hill to the city,they found maidens going out to draw water,and said unto them,Is the Seer here? And they answered them,and said,He is;Behold he is before you: Make haste now,for he came today in the city: for there is a Sacrifice of the people in the High Place”.(1 Samuel 9 vs 11-12). That is the Focal Scripture of Streams of Joy Devotional Today.
When Saul came in contact with the Young Maidens who directed him to Samuel,they informed him about a Sacrifice that Samuel was to be involved in. They didn’t stop at asking Saul to make haste;they also told him a thing about Sacrifice. They knew about it going on in the city. Saul was on the path of greatness,he was about to become king,and on his way,he needed people who understood the concept of sacrifice. One of the meanings of is,”TO GIVE UP SOMETHING VALUABLE”.
Friend,Hear God’s Counsel to you: Surround yourself with people who understand this concept. Relate with people who encourage you to give up little pleasures for some hard work. Mix with friends who encourage you to give up wrong habits and attitudes. Align yourself with colleagues who are interested in what can be sacrificed to make your organisation better. Mix with people who won’t encourage you to ‘eat’ what you were meant to give to God!
Anyone who doesn’t understand that you need to give up something every now and then is only helping you reject the rewards that come with Sacrifice. Sometimes,we need to sacrifice our Pride,that anger,that hurt,that bitterness,that saved up money etc.
Run with people who share in the Vision of Sacrifice,who also know and understand the place of Sacrifice,and they will make your march to greatness easier!
Sacrifice is a part of life. Its not something to regret. Its something to aspire to.
