From a very young age, Olumide discovered how passionate he was about nature, paintings- art in its simplest but most invigorating form. His drive has always been to make people look beyond the cares and toils of life to see the beauty of life and enjoy it to the fullest.
For Olumide, art is powerful, refreshing and liberating. Each time he paints, he tries to show people the beautiful colours of life.
“I always try to show my audience that life is beautiful. I believe you could look at a painting and be healed from a sickness. Just staring at a lovely landscape or garden painting can ease the mind and ultimately the body. I am simply trying to radiate positivity through my paintings.” He tells businessdayonline.
At every opportunity, the gifted artist takes pleasure to talk about the incident that turned his life around. In 2015, he first painted on canvas at an art class in Houston, Texas USA, where he got an unbelievable cheer from other artists. “There was something about the painting that caught the attention of everyone who saw it. I always knew I had it in me but that was the moment I realised I wanted the world to see my work,” he remembers.
From then on, Olumide began to see life differently; he decided to take a step back to give his mind enough room to explore the beauty of the world.
Like many other artists, painting came quite naturally to Olumide, not exactly inspired by anything in particular, so he took his brush as a vital part of his portfolio each time.- you never know where or when inspiration hits.
Olumide explains that he has been deeply touched by the talent and works of the historic Vincent Van Gogh. He looks up to the late artist as his role model. What he found most encouraging was the fact that Vincent always painted the things around him and he finds himself doing at times.
Even though he has a preference for oils, Olumide experiments with different techniques such as Acrylics, Watercolor and is building a reputation as one of the most exciting emerging contemporary artists in Nigeria. The talented artist is the CEO of image zoo arts.
“I could be watching a movie, listening to music or just looking out of my window and something tells me to get my brush and paint and after thinking about it as a finished product, I begin to see a concluded masterpiece, then I start getting excited.” He tells business day online
Olumide works as a project manager in a construction company, he also enjoys traveling.
He is also a member of the Contemporary Art Museum Houston and his works have been well – received in various Exhibitions.
