Today, we bring you the interview with one of Africa’s finest minds. He is a Public Speaker and Empowerment coach. He is also the Founder of the Center for Entrepreneurship, Leadership and Business Management Development (CELBMD) Africa, also called the Pan African Professional Center, out there in Cameroon.
His name is Jaynyuy Joybert and today, he shares with us his story, where he is coming from, how he set up the Centre and he ends with some words of advice for the young people in Africa.

Tell us about Jaynyuy Joybert – family, ethnicity, education…
Javnyuy Joybert “DeRainstormrider” was born on September 2, 1990 in Banso Kumbo the second largest city in the North West Province of Cameroon. The first son (Born out of wedlock) of three children, Javnyuy and his younger siblings witnessed their parents struggle to earn a living through subsistence farming and to assist their children with their schooling through high school. Javnyuy Joybert attended Baptist Primary School Mbohnjong in Jakiri Sub Division and then moved to Chaffee Memorial Baptist College (CMBC) Kumbo where he obtained is Ordinary Levels Certificate in Commercial studies.
One summer, while I was in secondary school I visited an uncle who gave me three to four books to read each week. My uncle would then proceed to quiz me on what I had read. One book that was life altering for me was Norman Vincent Peale’s The Power of Positive Thinking. Peale’s book changed my mindset such that at the age of 19, I received the nickname “DeRainstormrider” from my friends due to my zeal in not allowing poverty or difficult situations in my family to stop him. In 2009, I completed my Advanced Level studies at Progressive Comprehensive High School (PCHS) Mankon Bamenda.
Due to my passion for knowledge in the field of finance and business management, I moved to the city of Bamenda, around 57 miles (91.7 km) southwest of Kumbo where I did many odd jobs to raise funds to attend the university there. I washed cars, worked on building construction sites, cleaned, and served as a commercial motorbike rider until I was able to enroll in a Bachelor’s of Science program in Financial Management at International University Bamenda Central Africa. In my final year of my undergraduate studies, I obtained my first full-time job. It was a position with the Microfinance Institution of the Kimbo Police Cooperative Credit Union Ltd. I was so thrilled to be handed my university degree in 2012.
Due to my desire to know more, but a lack of funds to enroll in an MBA program, I did some research online to learn how I might further my education at little or no cost. I found some sites and in 2013, I completed three certificate courses through ALISON, an-Ireland based site that offers free courses online. I obtained ALISON Certificates in Financial Accounting, Operations Management and Process Management. In 2014, I completed a Certificate in Strengthening African’s Public Sector Human Resource Management through the United Nations Public Administration Network (UNPAN) and in 2015 I was certified by The American Entrepreneurship Foundation (USA) as a Corporate Entrepreneurship and Entrepreneurship Trainer.
You run The Center for Entrepreneurship, Leadership and Business Management Development (CELBMD) Africa. What is the Centre all about, when was it founded and what inspired it?
Before I answer this question, I will like to highlight that there came a time I was dissatisfied with my ability to bring out the best in himself and in others through my work at the Kimbo Police Cooperative Credit Union Ltd (KIPCCUL). So, I resigned in January 2014 and began work as Operations Manager in March 2014 with a non-governmental organization, the Women’s Initiative for Health Education and Economic Development Cameroon (WINHEEDCAM).
I resigned from WINHEEDCAM in February 2015, feeling once again that I was not reaching my greatest potential there, but I retained my two part-time lecturer positions at private universities, one of which I had been working at since obtaining his first full-time job. Since 2013, I have been a lecturer for Business Management courses at International University Bamenda (IUB) Kumbo Campus. Since 2014, I have also been teaching Business Management courses at the Institute of Maximum Potential Actualization and Creative Technology (IMPACT).
Although I found teaching to be more fulfilling than the full-time positions I had, I realized that my true passion is to empower people beyond the walls of my classrooms to be better and maximize their given potentials. I became a public speaker and empowerment coach. I travel around Cameroon speaking at conferences, Capacity Buildings and seminars.
The idea of The Center for Entrepreneurship, Leadership and Business Management Development (CELBMD) Africa – The Pan African Professional Center all started in 2012 but in a low scale but in 2014, the idea grow bigger.
The Center for Entrepreneurship, Leadership and Business Management Development (CELBMD) Africa – The Pan African Professional Center is a Professional Executive Training/Development and Consultancy organization with a vision for a dynamic culture of entrepreneurship, leadership, community development and effective business/Organizational management skills in Africa that stimulates entrepreneurial thinking, innovation, the creation of jobs and therefore the decline of unemployment, poverty, bad morals, and inequality and leaves a sustainable Africa for future generations.
CELBMD Africa believes everybody has the knowledge to create opportunity for themselves, organization and communities. CELBMD Africa therefore helps entrepreneurs, leaders and executives advance their strategic decision making capabilities to think faster and more creatively. Our Professional Executive Training/Development (PETD) Programs, Capacity buildings and seminars are designed to increase business skills and leadership capabilities to authentically lead their organizations/business and inspire a higher level of performance.
What are the different courses you run in CELBMD Africa?
The Center for Entrepreneurship, Leadership and Business Management Development (CELBMD) Africa – The Pan African Professional Center offer a wide variety of programs/Courses which are divided into three different levels.
That is Professional Executive Certificate (PEC) Level, Professional Executive Diploma (PED) Level and Professional Executive Advance Diploma (PEAD) Level.
Currently we run a total of 43 programs like PEC/PED/PEAD in Entrepreneurship and Business Management, Corporate Entrepreneurship, Advertising Management, Marketing Management, Leadership and People Management, Business Communication, Business Continuity Management, Business Process Management etc (Please visit www.celbmdafrica.org, click on courses to see more)
Are the courses run online or offline?
CELBMD Africa – The Pan African Professional Center organizes Executive Classroom training sessions and also online/Email Correspondences. Therefore we run our programs both online and offline.
Our offline Training programs (Executive Classroom Training Sessions) are a success across 16 African Countries because we have CELBMD Africa Country Ambassadors/Directors and CELBMD Africa Registered Training Centers (RTCs) who run our programs in their respective countries.
Who are your target audience and how do you get them to sign-up and attend the Courses?
CELBMD Africa have a wide target audience for her programs like Entrepreneurs, owners of small and medium size enterprises, managers of large/complex organizations, runners of NGOs, leaders, job seekers, university drop outs etc.
We use a lot of advertisement strategies like using facebook, flyers, posters in strategic areas, church announcements, radio announcements, official visits to organisations etc.
About how many people have you trained so far since you started in 2012?
Since its founding, CELBMD Africa – The Pan African Professional Center has empowered, trained and certified 8,200 people across the African Continent.
Through CELBMD Africa Country Ambassadors/Directors and CELBMD Africa Registered Training Centers (RTCs), CELBMD Africa has grown its Training operations to 16 African countries (Malawi, Uganda, Botswana, Tanzania, Zambia, Sierra Leon, Somalia, Djibouti, Nigeria, Ghana, DRC, Rwanda, Angola, Mozambique, South Africa and including Cameroon).
What would you say is the most important ingredient for uncommon success in running a Centre like CELBMD Africa?
The most important ingredients are Passion + Determination + Consistency and most importantly God.
What is your vision for CELBMD Africa? Where do you see it 5 years from now?
Looking at the impact CELBMD Africa have created across the African continent, out of the 8200 Certified Graduates Across Africa, 15% (1200) have testified of gaining promotion, 14% (1100) have testified of getting new jobs, 18% (1400) have testified of starting and running their own businesses/social enterprises. With this impact already created, I have a vision (of which we are currently working on) that by 2025, CELBMD Africa will be operating in all the 54 African countries by God’s grace.
What are hard-to-spot pitfalls that must be avoided in setting up a Centre like CELBMD Africa?
In setting up an Organisation like CELBMD Africa, you must avoid dream killers, people who tell you it is impossible, that you can’t make it.
If you had a list of ‘best-kept secrets’ [websites, books, materials] you’d recommend, which would you include and why?
I always recommend three books that have changed my life which are : –
- The Power of positive thinking b Vincent Norman,
- 7 Habits of highly effective people, and
- most importantly the Bible.
These books have drastically changed my life in every aspect.
What are three things you’ve told yourself that kept you going during your darkest hour?
Every time I find myself ina dark moment I always say this to myself repeatedly: –
- I am not a biological Mistake.
- God created me for a mandate”
- I am not a product of my circumstances but a product of God’s Promises and prophecies over my life.
What are three life memories you recall most frequently and why?
I have a lot of memories I recall every time. Most of these memories have helped me to make better choices and decisions and are greatly helping me in shaping my tomorrow.
What is your inspiration? What keeps you going?
The desire and passion to make sure I play my quota in leaving a better Africa to the future generation, an African Continent that is better than the one I inherited from my parents.

Have a dream. Your dream today is the raw material with which God will construct your tomorrow. If you do not have a dream you do not have a future. No man in life can fulfill destiny without a dream.
