Now Samuel took Saul and his servant and brought them into the hall, and had them sit in the place of honour among those who were invited; there were about thirty persons “(1 Samuel 9 vs 22 NKJV). That is the Focal Scripture of Streams of Joy Devotional Today.
When Saul left his father’s house to search for the lost asses, he went with a servant. This servant accompanied Saul from his father’s house, all the way to Ephraim, Shalisha, Shalim, Benjamin and Zuph. Even when Saul felt like giving up and going home, it was his servant who encouraged him to seek Prophet Samuel. Saul’s servant stood by him as he sought his father’s asses. Saul’s servant helped him to find a solution.
Notice that in Today’s Focal Scripture, when Saul was invited to dine with Samuel, his servant was invited too. A Servant would ordinarily not be found in such a revered place but he was there. He joined in the feast. He sat in the place of honor. The help that Saul’s servant gave to Saul turned around to uplift the servant. The help he rendered eventually helped him.
Friend, several lessons to glean from Saul’s servant as the month winds up – The assistance you give someone today will pay off. The help you render today may seem like a huge inconvenience, it may put a strain on your resources, it may seem like a distraction but God says you will be rewarded in due course!
This servant followed through in bad times. When hope was shaky, he didn’t leave. When there was no Kingship in sight, his commitment to his boss didn’t waiver. His support was undeniably total, now imagine what a huge reward. I know the times may not be pleasant; don’t walk away from that person, venture, business, Career now. There are greater times ahead! Follow through and you will break through!
Pray with me, “Lord, teach me to help others and follow through in my commitments even in not too pleasant times in Jesus name”.
Enjoy a Beautiful Wednesday and may the Month of October end in laughter for you!
