Hello there, how are you doing?
The 2013 Rivers State Carnival (popularly called CarniRiv) has come and gone. Did you see some great pictures from the 2012 edition? Click here to whet your appetite.
First, let me give us some background on the 2013 edition of the CarniRiv. Rivers State is an oil-producing state in Southern Nigeria. The Carnival is hosted by the Rivers State Government. The very first edition was held in 1988 but for some reason, it was discontinued until the year 2008 when the administration of Governor Chibuike Amaechi decided to bring it back to life.A whooping 20 years.
Well, I thank God it is back. Since then, Carniriv has been a yearly event and it has continued to grow bigger and bigger.
It held between the 15th and 21st of December 21, 2013 and it was tagged the Green World Edition with the theme – Our Environment, Bedrock for Sustainable Development. A thousand trees were planted across all the 23 local government areas in the state during the carnival and this was championed by the State Government.
Enough of the story-telling, please find below some great pictures from the 2013 Edition of the Rivers State Carnival. Enjoy!!
Hope you loved the pictures. See you at the 2014 Edition *wink*wink*
Cheers.
