Caroline Mutoko- The Media Power Woman with an Unparalleled Drive.

Caroline Mutoko can best be described as a woman with a nerve of steel. She is strong, focused and fearless, the very reason, her many followers can’t stop loving her.

A quintessential radio presenter, Caroline is respected for her ability to handle tough issues and penetrate the minds of her ever increasing listeners, giving them a reason to be hopeful, not just in their future, but also in that of their country. With over 10 years of experience in the Kenya media industry, Caroline is no doubt the first female broadcaster to host a morning radio show and anchor the airwaves, especially on issues that concern her people.

She is a radio presenter with Nairobi’s Kiss 100 FM radio station, one of the radio stations under the Radio Africa brand, where she presents the early morning “The Big Breakfast”. A program she used to host alongside comedian Walter “Nyambane” Mong’are who has since left to join the government funded Kenya Broadcasting Corporation (KBC).

She is also the group marketing officer at Radio Africa, a Kenyan media company that runs five radio stations, a TV station and a daily newspaper. The power woman hopes strongly in the future of the Kenya media and so she goes all the way, contributing her bit at every opportunity.

A lover of sound education, the Queen of Kenyan radio, has attended executive education courses at various prestigious schools in the US, including the Harvard Business School and UCLA Anderson School of Management. She believes that having a good education is the best way to grow and remain relevant in the ever changing business world.

“Every time I got on the plane to go to school I understood I was going three years into the future,” she says in an interview with How we Made it in Africa “When I went to Harvard I paid US$9,000 for a 10-day course and it was the best 10 days of my life.”

Her mantra is “stay hungry and stay foolish.” For her, the only way not to miss out on further learning opportunities, and limit oneself is to see the future and the potential it holds for businesses.

The leading lady has been involved in various projects and is known to be an active advocate for civil rights. She is also a writer for Star Newspaper, a subsidiary of Radio Africa. In July 2012, she was appointed chairlady of the Kenya Tourist Development Authority.

She sees her job as an amazing platform to influence decisions, change perceptions, and also opens doors of hope to many people. In her words, “The only way to truly be valuable is to use what I have and what I have achieved, to enrich someone else’s life”.

Caroline is a proud mother of a four year old girl called Theodora Nduku Mutoko.
