Tirunesh Dibaba has done it again.
Last Sunday, she shone like a million starts at the ongoing World Athletics Championships in Russia, winning the gold medal in the 10,000 metres race.
Only recently we shared the story of the self-proclaimed Baby-faced Destroyer. Today, we can tell you that she won the race in style, with a time of 30 min, 43.37 sec, with Gladys Cherono of Kenya taking silver (30:45.17) and Ethiopia’s Belaynesh Oljira claiming bronze (30:46.98). It was Africa all the way and we celebrate them today. Keep the flag flying, Girls.
Just wondering – why is it that Ethiopians (like Haile Gebrselassie) and Kenyans do well in long distance races?
