Women in Africa Forum 2012

Women in Africa Forum 2012The inaugural edition of the “Women in Africa” 2012 forum, is billed for the 17th and 18th of October. Powered by Forward Networking, the theme is a “Time to Invest”. Its aim is to share, inspire and encourage current and future entrepreneurs and leaders. It is also a clarion call to industries and nations alike that the time to invest in women is now.

¨Women are important drivers in Africa´s economy and should be given as many opportunities as possible to succeed. Women´s leadership in Africa needs clear plans and priorities to overcome structural problems while focusing on economic growth.¨- World Economic Forum.

Women will be empowered and exposed to the relationships and networks that they need to achieve their goals in their businesses and careers. The agenda will revolve around food security, healthcare, education, training and skills development, leadership and investments.

The venue is the Chandaria Business School, United States International University, Nairobi, Kenya.

The opening remarks will be given by Ms. Letty Chiwara, the UN Women´s Chief of Africa. Other speakers include, Valentine Njoroge, Edna Adan Ismail, Joanne Mwangi, Caroline Mutoko, Eva Muraya, Njeri Rionge, Modesta Lilian Mahiga, Sue Omanga, June Munjeki, Comfort Sakoma, Lilian Andre, Deborah Johnson, Nneka Okekearu, Violette Wambua, Redempta Ndamuki, Angela Odour, Sarah Mcgregor, and Louisa Gikonyo. A very loaded list if I do say so.

Africa is truly awakening to the tons of opportunities that await anyone that has the proper tools to harness these resources. Women will be marginalized no longer. Join the movement; invest in yourself, invest in Africa.
