Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us, Â Heb. 12:1 KJV.
There is a race that is set before us to run and every man run with patience in other to reach that mark. But there are some weight and sin that do easily beset or entangle man from attaining that height desired by God. These weight and sin takes us far from Him; and they are like yoke that is distract us from looking unto Him.
Worrying becomes a weight. It is a yoke that hinders us from running the race that is marked out for us. Yoke is always framed to fit the neck and shoulder; preventing the bearer from attaining some height. It is a source of limitation to what one can achieve, if a man is seen with it. Worrying is a weighty yoke that distract the bearer from living out that life that wins.
What becomes your worry could be that business you tried severally that failed and you refuse to raise or that investment that you deemed fit to participate but you did have money. Or that son/daughter of yours that is a source of worry to you. Or that entrance examination you have to engage severally but no fail.
A lot of issues are springing up each passing day as a yoke on my people’s neck and shoulder and such entangles us, making us to awake and still endanger our health. That is because everything about us is stocked to it. To those who worry, their lives become terribly full of frustration.
Unarguably, there are several worries, cares, concerns and anxiety that entangle us – which afflict and not add any single hour or statute to our lives. Knowing that to be entangled is not profitable to us the writer of Hebrew 12:2 instructs that we should look unto [fix our minds on] Jesus, who is the author and finisher of our faith – who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.
If our eye is focused on Him, then our whole being will be full of light (Matt. 6:22) and so that light in us is the light of Christ once we look unto Him, who is the father of lights. That light in your life gives you the power to break off that yoke of worry and anxiety which do beset you. It takes off that weight of worry off your necks and gives you freedom. Remember it is the Truth – Jesus Christ – that will set you free.
