“Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.” Phil. 4:6 [NIV]
There are about one thousand one [1001] things that entangle us and to some we feel comfortable with them. While some wants to live in the new found circumstances, others want to stay put to it – either it becomes good or not! It is within the plans of some people to get over their worries but they do not know how.
Some tell them to “take it to God in prayer” and they have done that but the troubles still continue, it even gets worst as the day go by. They feel God is selective and partial to them because they have called on Him and nothing happened.
Welcome to the last edition of What Matters! a 7days devotional that seeks to encourage and challenge to live a life that wins over worries, anxiety and cares of life. Let us break the bread once again. Have a good time!
One of the reason some people have unanswered prayer is because they are anxious about their worries such that when they commune with God they share the worries and after the prayers they continue reflecting on it. It is like a man who takes his problem to his father after telling him about it, and his father gives him a word “not to worry about it”. But he still went on to still worry about it.
Our anchor scripture says we should “be careful for nothing” (Phil. 4:6 KJV) then take it to Him to God in prayers. He assures us that nothing is impossible with Him so why worry when He can bear our yoke. This means before we meet Him we must take no thought again on those things that do beset us. His Word is Him personified so we should give ear to that instruction; He gives to those who believe.
Becoming anxious about those things is not His plan for your life so take no thought to them. He cares about you. Your welfare is His concern. Then through prayers and petitions you make your request known to Him; telling Him what you want Him to do for you and appreciate – thanking – Him for what He has done through Christ. He is a praying answering faith He will hear you.
What happens after then, Apostle Paul continues in verse 7 of Philippians 4, “And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guide your hearts and your minds in Jesus Christ”. Awesome! What comes afterwards is peace that is eternal, one that is from above and it supersedes understanding. Then the question is what will the peace do for you?
When the peace comes it will guide your hearts and minds in Jesus Christ. It helps your spirit man to live in that life that is predestined for you. That is one that wins over circumstances and worries of life. His peace is one of the good things we have in Him. His peace is eternal and everlasting and it will take us only believing to have access to that peace that passes all understanding.
The world cannot secure that peace for you. The earthly treasures you are accumulating will never buy peace for you. It is only gain through our faith in Christ Jesus. Even as you receive you must continue fellowshipping with Him, through a studying His Word. Apostle Paul instructs believers at some point to grow in grace and in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus. Getting in contact with Him enlightens our eye of understanding and opens the portal of all the good things we have in Christ.
A life that is secured – saved – in Christ is a life that wins. God bless you and see you in other subsequent devotionals.
Strive to win.
