Yesterday, I had a brainwave about starting a fashion line, and perhaps that’s the reason I have sought out this particular African star for mention.
She might not own a fashion label yet, but there’s a feeling deep in my stomach that tells me that Silvia Njoki  is well on her way to world dominance.
Cognisant of her interests and passions, She studied Fashion Styling at the University of the Arts London, Central Saint Martin, in the United Kingdom and the Nuova Academia di Belle Arti Milano, in Italy.
As a Stylist, Silvia Njoki has styled for fashion shows in London, Mauritius, Rwanda and Tanzania and of course, Kenya.
An avid fashion writer, she has contributed to ARISE Magazine, London, and works for the Standard Media Group, Kenya as a Fashion Journalist and entertainment writer.
The idea for a blog came up -strangely enough- after the birth of her daughter. The blog was created in 2013 to chronicle her efforts at creatively dressing her daughter, but eventually evolved into a mainstream fashion blog starring Silvia Njoki.
Barely two years after her foray into the world of blogging, Silvia won the ‘Blogger of the Year Award’ 2015 at the annual BAKE (Bloggers Association of Kenya) awards and also had a landslide win in the fashion blog category; a testament to her consistency, creativity and commitment.
What makes ‘Style by Silvia’ stand out from a myriad fashion bloggers? Perhaps it’s the lengths to which she goes to ensure stellar content is delivered on her blog.
What’s her fashion inspiration? Everything it seems! According to her,
“Every day I get inspired by things and people I see on the streets, outfits I come across on the Internet and in magazines, trends, pictures and quotes that I discover on social media. I always try to save as much as I can on my phone for future reference. These come in handy when I am styling an outfit or putting together an article on the blog. I strongly believe that every creative person should seek to constantly be inspired.”
On shooting a style post, Silvia is gracious enough to share her trade secrets. A big one is ‘Location Scouting.’
“There was a time when I did most of my fashion shoots around my house or by the streets nearby. But that quickly became boring. These days, I keep my eyes wide open when I drive around in the city or the countryside to spot new and exciting locations. It is so much fun to no longer be predictable but to reflect my spontaneous, crazy and wild locations. But most importantly, showcase our beautiful country.” Â SilviaNjoki.Com
Will she evolve beyond this point? I know for certain that she will! Conquering the world of fashion blogging is just one rung on the ladder for the woman who envisions owning her own fashion media network.
And why shouldn’t she? She’s working her passion and living her dream.
She has my permission to take over the world!
