 Storytellers In Fashion TM

December 28, 2013 at Farafina Café & Lounge, NYC – 54 Kingdoms will host its second annual Storytellers in Fashion showcase. Launched last year (2012) in collaboration with Applause Africa Magazine, Storytellers in Fashion (STF) brings to light the creation experience and inspirational stories behind the different 54 Kingdoms designs. Accompanied by a live band providing background music, STF involves an oral and visual presentation to attendees in addition to performances from other creative sharing their stories through music, poetry and comedy.

The inaugural STF event saw collaborations with afro-soul singer Rafiya, dynamic poet Nathan Nana Wise, and BraveBoi Music Group (BBMG), while raising funds to support the work of Africa Youth Network (AYONET) in Ghana, West Africa; an NGO partner of 54 Kingdoms. “STF creates a platform for different storytelling artists other than 54 Kingdoms, whether its music, comedy or poetry. 54 Kingdoms tells its stories through fashion. It’s a celebration of the arts, and we are all artists”. ~Kwaku Awuah, President of 54 Kingdoms

This year’s showcase includes performances from singer, guitarist and songwriter, Anita Fearon, comedian, NaMò, and spoken word artist, Imperial Mandela Rose. Proceeds from this year’s event will go towards the efforts of African Youth Excellence (AYE); a U.S based youth advocacy with deep-seated interest in the professional development of young Africans in the Diaspora.
