The highly anticipated Port Harcourt Book Festival 2013 is finally here! The Book Fiesta which will run from the 21st-s6th October, 2013 will feature Authors, Publishers, Readers, Fans, thespians, and every industry associated with the almighty ‘Book.’
According to Festival Director, Mrs Koko Kalango on this year’s theme, “we have ventured away from core literary works to feature people more known in other fields than literature…we realise that for writing to become a viable income-generating stream, the book industry must be ‘alive and well’ so we have invited academics, writers, publishers, booksellers, librarians and readers to rub minds and see what practical steps we can take to ensure that literature becomes an effective economic force in Nigeria.”
Guest authors at the festival include Chika Unigwe, NLNG Prize winner for ‘On Black Sisters Street’; Binyanvanga Wainaina, Kenyan essayist; ‘One day I will Write about this Place’; Molara Wood, John La Rose Prize Winner; ‘Indigo; Titi horsfall with her first novel ‘From an Orphan to a Queen-Esther; Christie Bature-Ogbeifun with ‘Exactly the Same Coin; and the ever ebullient comedian Julius Agwu for his autobiography, ‘Jokes Apart…How Did I Get Here?’

The Port Harcourt Book Festival 2013, precursor to the UNESCO World Book Capital 2014, promises to deliver a wholesome experience to every bibliophile, writer and everyone connected to the ‘Word’ industry in Nigeria.
