“And Saul answered and said, “Am I not a Benjamite, of the smallest of the tribes of Israel, and my family the least of all the families of the tribe of Benjamin? Why then do you speak like this to me? “(1 Samuel 9 vs 21 NKJV). That is the Focal Scripture of Streams of Joy Devotional Today.
In Today’s Focal Scripture, Saul disclosed that he was a Benjamite. Benjamin was the last son of Jacob and therefore the least tribe in Israel. Saul’s family was also the least in the tribe of Benjamin. One could say that Saul’s background was not fitting enough for someone who was destined to become a King. Saul’s pedigree was not good enough.
Notice that despite what we could call a lack of pedigree, God chose Saul to become the first King of Israel. Despite what was not in his favour, he was chosen ahead of the crowd. Despite what he didn’t have, God picked him for the peak.
Isn’t it so true that by human standards,we naturally expect the people with pedigree to be at the top? We expect the most qualified to be employed; the most connected to be in Power; the most successful should lead the way while others follow. Somehow, life often seems like a game of the very best!
Friend, hear God’s Word today: You may not have the Pedigree but Grace will take you to the top. You may not be favoured by rules that govern appointments and promotions, you may not be as knowledgeable as people at the top are expected to be, you may not even look good enough to yourself and to people around you; but God says, You are destined for the Top!
1 Samuel 2 vs 8 puts it in an exciting light, “God raises the poor from the dust, lifts up the needy from the garbage pile. God sits them with officials, gives them the seat of honor…”
By God’s design, you will get jobs you feel you are not qualified for, positions that are bigger than your qualifications, endorsements that will dwarf your pedigree.
Pray with me, “Lord, I prophesy over my life, my background will not stop my march to Greatness”.
