‘No language can express the beauty, power, majesty and heroism of a mother’s love.’
So, regardless of the words, clichés and writings expressed here, what my heart screams for this woman cannot be deciphered by anyone. There is the story of an Amazing Nigerian Woman I know and how I got to know her. After the death of my biological father on the 9th of August 1996, hopes to become relevant in life crashed, but the hope was brought back to life when Mr. & Mrs. Omesu decided to take care of myself and my younger sister, Joy in 1999.
I have read and heard of how couples or guardians maltreat wards or children living with them. To the Glory of God, my case is different. Mr. & Mrs. Omesu brought us up as though they were our biological parents. They are the BEST PARENTS I could ever have prayed for. I am blessed and favoured to be parented by this wonderful couple.
I learnt what it means to have a loving family, a blessed marriage, a good home and wonderful children; was it means to love and show love to people. Due to the nature of the job my God sent Father “Mr. Omesu” does; Mrs. Omesu spent more time with us at home, taking good care of us and giving us a good home training.
When the world turned its back at me and thought nothing good could come out of me because I couldn’t read, write, and speak properly. She encouraged me and stood by me; telling me not to give up on myself and that I am going to be a great person because I have a great future ahead of me. I can’t but shed tears whenever I remember how she endured pain and hardship to ensure that we were fine and comfortable, become the best we could be, and be a blessing to our generation.
She is a living example of the virtuous woman the Holy Book talked about. She is a wife of noble character; her husband has full confidence in her and lacks nothing of value. She will spend sleepless nights with us while studying our books, ensure that we don’t feel cold while sleeping, eat well, dress well and behave well.
She sees that her trading is profitable and her lamp does not go out at night. She is strong and hardworking. She is a source of inspiration and motivation to a lot of young couples. She speaks with wisdom and faithful instruction lies on her tongue. She watches on the affairs of her household and does not eat the bread of idleness. She is loved by many because she opens her arms to the poor and extends her hands to the needy.
Today, we the children are doing excellently well in our respective lives. I am in my final year in the University of Ibadan. I have won several awards and laurels ranging from academics to personality and leadership right from my primary school to date.
Likewise my other siblings; Joy ‘My biological younger sister’, a graduate of Economics Education; Oluwaseun ‘Her first born’, a graduate of Economics; Adeoluwa ‘Her second born’, an undergraduate studying Information and Communication Engineering and Modupeoluwa ‘Her last born’, a secondary school pupil, just because we were brought up in an amazing home by an Amazing Nigerian Woman.
Many women do noble things, but she surpasses them all. Charm is deceptive, and beauty is fleeting; but a woman who fears the LORD is to be praised. Give her the reward she has earned, and let her works bring her praise.
I dedicate my life philosophy to her which says, “The beauty of life does not depend on how happy you are, but how happy others can be because of you”.
Thank you and God bless you all.
