“And when the tempter came to him, he said,if thou be the Son of God, command that these stones be made bread” (Matthew 3 vs 4). That is the Focal Scripture of Streams of Joy Devotional Today.
While Jesus was in the Wilderness, he fasted for forty days and forty nights, and afterwards, He had no food. Jesus was stuck in a situation where something he needed was not available. He was stuck with a situation where basic necessity was nowhere to be found. There was something He needed that He didn’t have while in the Wilderness.
Notice that when the devil showed up, he began by tempting Jesus with food. The devil began by tempting Jesus with something He needed but did not have. He tempted Jesus with a basic necessity that was missing in Jesus’ life. He used what Jesus was looking for as a basis for temptation. He built a temptation around Jesus Lack.
Friend, isn’t it true that quite often, the devil builds temptations around what we lack? He builds temptations around the things that are missing in our lives. He discovers what we lack at every moment, and makes a temptation out of it.
Today, hear God’s Counsel: When the devil tempts you with what you lack, don’t bulge! When the devil builds a temptation around what you don’t have, don’t give in! When he makes you feel helpless and it seems your only option is to cut corners, do yourself a favour: Don’t give in!
Remember Jesus didn’t die because there was no food. He didn’t die because of what he didn’t have. No matter what it is that you lack, be rest assured that it will not kill you!
Don’t do the wrong thing because of that thing you desperately need! God will come through for you soon!
Pray with me, “Lord, I choose to resist every temptation that is built around my needs in Jesus name”.
