AFRICA – LEARNING ON THE GO

Information technology breaks new frontiers every day, and Africa is no longer taking a backseat to spear-heading innovation and change.

We discovered GAPS Academy, an online school for African students. A fab, exciting idea right? We thought so too! GAPS is short for Grow, Advance, Produce and Succeed. It prides itself as the “Largest learning platform for Africans by Africans.” They aim to empower everyone to learn, share and bridge the gaps in their knowledge and experience. GAPS ACADEMY - AFRICA LEARNING ON THE GO

The GAPS Academy mission is to enable everyone to teach and mentor at least one person in Africa using collaborative technology to bridge the knowledge gap in Africa.

The GAPS Academy is a project by GAPS Initiative. The GAPS Initiative is a volunteer-led, community focused, lifelong empowerment initiative on business leadership and entrepreneurship for African communities by Africans. It was started in 2012 by Dr. Anderson Uvie-Emegbo, an adjunct faculty at both the Strathmore Business School, Kenya and the Pan-African University, Nigeria. He is also a Resource person at the Lagos Business School. He serves as the Curator of GAPS Initiative and the Director of Learning of GAPS Academy.

What part do you play in all of this? Are you a student in Africa? Why settle for one teacher for a subject when you can have hundreds of thousands of teachers from different parts of the world? Are you an expert in your field? Are you a teacher? You can share your knowledge with millions of students in Africa who may not have access to educators with your experience and expertise in your chosen field.

Do assist in curbing illiteracy and its effects in Africa.
