“And when the tempter came to him, he said,If thou be the Son of God, command that these stones be made bread. “(Matthew 4 vs 3). That is the Focal Scripture of Streams of Joy Devotional Today.
When the devil came to Jesus in the wilderness, Jesus was hungry. Jesus had been without food for forty days and forty nights. He was in need of food. He was in a state of discomfort. Jesus was in the Wilderness. The wilderness is a dry place with no life. Put differently, Jesus was in a dis-comforting condition in a dis-comforting place.
Notice that the devil asked Jesus to turn stones into bread. He asked Jesus to do something about his hunger. He didn’t ask Jesus to leave the Wilderness and move to a better location, he didn’t ask Jesus to move away from dryness. He only asked Jesus to make bread in the wilderness, that is, make himself comfortable in an uncomfortable environment.
Friend, one subtle strategy of the enemy is to make us comfortable in the Wilderness. He desires that we become a little more relaxed in dis-comforting situation situations, instead of pushing for change. He wants us to learn to live with ill-health instead of pushing for healing, accept negative status quo in our business, career etc instead of pushing for change.
Beloved, don’t relax in your wilderness. Don’t accept to live below the standard of God’s Words and Promises over your life! Don’t let any negative experience impact on your expectations in life. Push for change in the place of Prayer and your actions.
Friend, if you choose to make bread in the Wilderness, the wilderness will still be a wilderness. After making the bread, you may soon discover you need water. Push for a total change. The wilderness was just a passing phase in Jesus life. Don’t let the devil deceive you into settling in a passing phase of your life!
Pray with me, “Lord, I push for change, I refuse to bake bread in the wilderness in Jesus name”.
Have a Splendid Tuesday!
