Nigerian author, Helon Habila is a man of many firsts. Born in Kaltungo, Gombe State, Nigeria, he completed his secondary education in Kaltungo in 1984 and attempted to train as an Engineer at the Tafawa Balewa University in Bauchi, and at the Bauchi College of Arts and Science, but eventually studied English Literature at the University of Jos, Plateau State.
In 2002, he moved to England to become a Writing Fellow at the University of East Anglia where he was a Chevening Scholar and he now teaches creative writing at George Mason University, Washington D.C where he lives with his wife and three[3] children.
